No Shame, and No Stigma Eating Disorder Dietitians

Eating Disorders Are More Common Than You Think

Over 30 million Americans will have an eating disorder within their lifetime. While the science isn't fully established yet, what we do know is that eating disorders are often a combination of genetic predisposition and environmental influence.

This is why you sometimes see eating disorders tied to certain careers and professions like the medical field, or truck-driving where the access to healthier foods and ability to eat on a regular schedule is greatly impacted by your working hours.

Eating Disorders Are More Dangerous Than You Think

While public perception is often that eating disorders are a minor behavior tied to insecurity or adolescents, the truth is that eating disorders carry the highest risk of death of any psychiatric illness.

Up to 20% of people with chronic anorexia will die as a result of their illness if it is not treated.

Eating disorders are serious, and they often are occurring alongside other health challenges such as depression, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive disorders.

Eating Disorders Are More Treatable Than You Think

Up to 60% of patients make what's considered a "full recovery" with eating disorder counseling, nutritional guidance, and further treatment. The most successful outcomes typically involved an experienced physician, a mental health provider, and a registered dietitian (that's us!).

At Nutrition That Heals we're equipped to help you with all manner of eating disorders, and provide science-backed nutritional advice and guidance for your own personal challenges. And the best part?

Most of our clients are fully covered under their insurance for nutritional counseling from a registered dietitian. If you'd like to check with your provider, we've created an easy to use script.
